tcl/tk are free and binary is kernel independent ? Use tk forever ?

tcl programs were written years ago.  tk toolkit made it nice for GUI environment. Someday, the apps can be reprogrammed for auto sequencing in functionality. Speech recognition can program the next demand from users?

Austrumi is slackware, except some bindings are in russian file names. You have to find the english file names which are equivalent to fix bugs of missing bindings(using russian words).

Having said that, you will find tcl/tk stand alone, and no file dependencies to worry about. Which is great for tiny Linux operating system.

So, as long as tk fits the window manager layout and rendering engines, you can use any tcl/tk programs you can find, to be installed in Austrumi. Search Google?

You might write about how you find such apps or games gems in tcl/tk repositories or how you install them in your Austrumi versions?

Re: tcl/tk are free and binary is kernel independent ? Use tk forever ?

People tend to look down on tcl/tk apps. But look at the iPhone 100,000 apps, people even willing to pay $4 per app. Bank of America has mobile text online banking that does everything without the burden of gui as in their secured website. People don't want to waste time; text banking online is very nice. I agree.

So, when Linux goes cloud computing, the tiny Linux OS will have to simplify. Yes, too bloated with all the browsers wasting time on html5. A text mobile operating system will have its appeal.

I still have the demo operating system(1700+ files) on a 1.44 mB floppy by QNX. Their browser is text based, internet running on external modem connecting to ISP. It still works today.

Android for tablets will have Chrome browser and its claimed 100,000 apps in their stores. The trend is going to be set forever by Apple. It sells, people are willing to pay.

Puppy is still backwards in operating system concept, and stripping down to browser is difficult with all that GNU library. SliTaz and tinycore have a better chance of simplicity and speed for mobile WiFi and free internet. Text apps will come later, because they only cost $4.99 each.

Re: tcl/tk are free and binary is kernel independent ? Use tk forever ?

When we use mpeg4/h.264(mjpeg+MP3) on the internet, it is independent of kernels and desktops. You can change MP3 to Dolby mobile sound without any defects.

So, tk is not good enough for rich experience, but mpeg4/h.264 is rich experience.

And it can be used in windows8 metro architecture.

When we universally adopt mpeg4/h.264, it goes from DTV to tablets and servers. One standard for all rich applications.
