Microdrives unrecognized fixing solution ?

Many microdrives may have head read problems and can not be recognized by bios, because no mbr can be read.

Usually fdisk can make drives recognized to be formatted and sys c:. Fdisk in floppy, only works on C:.

So, fdisk after booted and use option /mbr can write the correct info into the first sector of the disk drive. Then reading the mbr, bios can recognize the hard disk drive whether it is microdrive or not. If the heads can not read or write then fdisk operation will fail.

The head has to have the flying height to read correctly. That means the microdrive has to spin at the right speed to achieve the correct flying height.

We have an easy task to check out microdrives CFII form factor. By using the cf card and hdd adaptor in master drive selection, USB hdd adaptor will recognized the microdrive. Then if recognized by partition software, the microdrive can be formatted into ntfs to run PCs.

When heads can not read mbr, USB adaptor will show an unknown device. Hopefully, when you reinsert the uSB adaptor the head might miracally be recognized if head can read the disk. Try that a few times before you give up. The logic is that microdrives are also voltage sensitive. You may need to run the microdrive for a while to get it stabilized for the heads to read and write.

Cellphones can use microdrives for very lengthy movie taking. It just need a movie editing software to make professional movies.

The future of microdrives depends on the need to record all things on earth. the insect world and botanical gardens. Its a record of  resources of life in organic chemistry(biology).

What is available in microdrive capacity improvements is multi linewidth heads, thin disks, multi magnetic layers by biasing frequencies, and prml data compression using colored pixel as braille and mpeg4/h.264 encoder/decoder.

The mechanical nature of hdd will be more effective cost wise for larger capacuty than solid state memory devices. It is easier to do data compression schemes. Small mechanical parts cost less by stamping.

Data compression using colored pixels as braille can replace ascii codes by a 256 colored pixel, by direct read pixel by pixel.

When you advanced to jpeg(FPU to zoom picture), the decoder can read 16 pixels at a time in a block to convert to video picture and then decompress the data.

This kind of video compression ratio is usually 9x but if you use compounded video compression methods, the compression ratio really increases.

As computers use more cpu cores, data compression and multilayers of data compression will be used with ease.

Data is now all serial. Nobody uses parallel(long instructions of file switching) data any more. Cpu cores can be 8 bits rather than 64 bits or 356 bits. Data compression will reduce the use of flash memory for green(power) operation.

Technology is changing fast, and we can benefit on the cost reduction, using cheap telephones for computers with TV display.
