Rice fast food dish or soup cooked in twenty minutes

In a 9" pot, put in 8 cups of water, add one cube of chicken bouillon plus liberal amount of pepper.

Add any vegetable you like. Onions, carrots, celery, spinach, cabbage, beans, eggplant, potato, etc. Add any meat you like, beef, pork, lamb,  chicken, see food and shell fish. Estimate 4 ounces each, vegetable or meat, for each person. Add one cup of rice. All ingredients can be cooked or raw.

Bring it to a boil, then simmer for twenty minutes. Test the tenderness by stabbing with a knife.

Turn off heat and let it stand for twenty minutes, when the rice absorbed all or most of the water. Serve when hot. Additional seasoning can be relishes, or sauces.

Re: Rice fast food dish or soup cooked in twenty minutes

Does pasta and rice behave the same?

After you boil the water, you must simmer the water to cook both rice or pasta. 20 minutes of simmering seemed the right period of time to soften meat, vegetable, and grains.

Then to make them soft and tender, you must turn off the heat. That is when the rice or pasta start to absorb all the water it can. We use 8 oz of rice or elbow pasta for three portions or servings in 8 cups of water.

For more flavours, serve with drizzles of sweet Teriyaki soy source.

For others, maybe equal portions of mustard and surrents(jam or jelly).

Condiments are always handy to add spice in life.

Re: Rice fast food dish or soup cooked in twenty minutes

What is the difference in paella, risotto, and hotpot? All of them use rice and cook in water, but the first two fry the rice at the beginning, hotpot add oil at the end.

Paella use seafood at the end to create flavour similar to monosodium glutamate.

Risotto however is creamy, and add butter and cheese at the end.

Hotpot cooks the water add meat and vegetable plus spices(pepper) with chicken bullion. Then add seafood with oil to coat the rice.
