Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

Of late, Yahoo has problems with wifi webpage downloads which did not finish downloading. So the webpage did not respond to mouse action. It works better with newer firefox on wifi downloads.

Firefox had too many temp files trying to memorize for the next session to continue the previous links(some strange happenings often occur).

ARRS can fix the wifi download when busy to make sure download is complete(webpage checksum) at the cable plant. Yahoo downloads been very busy with mobile devices using my yahoo webpage.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

I am using 3 versions of my yahoo. Now they have a 4th version of news for celebrities. Which I am not interested, but many do.

So, how does yahoo get people to choose all 4 summary versions?

Eventually Yahoo will discover how to combine in one webpage then change contents by changing links.

Bongo wifi has network in hotels, and is trying to sell wifi service at $9.95 per month. First three months half price.

You have to use your own laptop with wifi.

Bongo may have to install wifi  routers to reach your residence from hotels? Which is cheap(Meraki outdoor $99each 700 feet range) if solar powered charging Li battery?

However, Bongo only shows a list of free hotspots by zip code, which you don't have to pay to connect.

Doing business with facebook friends maybe worldwide, have to post prices and use postal service for delivery of goods. Bigdata websites are going to be economical development means easily done.

its why old desktops are obsolete if only offline.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

My Yahoo financials show stock price to the penny. but Nasdaq trading is up to 8 digits which Yahoo has not been able to resolve to the last penny.

Maybe Yahoo is not aware of their software reporting Nasdaq quotes correctly. In actual trading Merrill Lynch reports correctly in their bigdata webpage.

Some one has to tell Yahoo their faults.

Wifi used for PC is just Boot to connect today. But for servers it is edgeqam wifi of many channels, so that connectivity is within the server components(parallel processing) as well as to the internet. This means data centers will have to redesign its computers.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

Android is dead, because of two major faults.

video screen failed due to heat or contact resistance. Repair cost is about the price of a new one.

The touch digitizer is too easy to break. Repair cost is buying a new one. Ebay is full of tablets for parts.

Until tablets are made to last like iPad, its a dead issue to run Android on tablets, maybe better on laptops.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

Yahoo bigdata webpages suffered technical inaccuracy of data presentation; resulting in management upset. Hired help from google did more graphics that many yahoo users did not want but bigdata for productivity is not calculated correctly on webpages. It will need more experience in bigdata presentation(accuracy) expertese.

Now that we know their weakness, it can be fixed.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

Yahoo mail and My Yahoo will be upgraded to the new format after Jan.31, 2014. No more old format in the name of beauty. There are a few feature differences too, switching mail like facebook switching pictures with right and left arrows in the same window.

How well it will help users nobody knows yet.

My Yahoo has bookmarks or favorite just like speed dial. The new My Yahoo may have to be learned to do a few weebpage you use often.

Right now, I use 3 My Yahoo formats. I wonder how I am going to work with the upgraded my Yahoo format.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

There are rumors of desktop and laptop PCs dead because of auto update, bios got corrupted and hdd failed. Intel reported large deskttop sales last quarter.

THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON BOTH MY DESKTOPS AND SEVERAL LAPTOPS. Now I no longer do auto update on laptops, still laptop bios got corrupted. I have to find a way to install new bios to fix the laptops.

W2k is dead without Microsoft update, but it works fine with Firefox4. No problems until Yahoo mail tried to update the browser for their mail features.

For a short while, yahoo mail can not be deleted on W2k, missing delete feature on the webpage.

Now yahoo fixed that problem, W2k is good for yahoo mail on firefiox4 again 04/23/2014.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

Nothing is dead if data centers can download your favorite info.

As long as browsers can be used on old OS.(w2k on older computer) WiFi can be used to connect internet.

Yahoo is a data center.

Its coming for paperless society.

Android tablets are using yahoo MSN etc., but they have script problems and certificates too.

It may take a long time for big data centers to get webpage format right for Android mpeg4 codes.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

Android is dead? too much new social ideas.

Promotional websites switched by itself making you feel others are operating your tablet. Even gmail(ebay) has too many promotional email to sell things not interested.

Then Xfinity wifi network took over your secured connect, disabled your wifi.

Facebook showing emotion rather than your short messages. Scripts not working because webpage.
Never finished.

May be too late because people are turned off by these happenings.

Big data centers only do downloads which made internet surfing cloud computing.

Wifi network does best. Offline desktop is dead.

IPad is fast and runs apps. Cellphones android tablets too runs apps to stay alive.

Re: PC is dead; Linux is dead ? Yahoo, MSN to the rescue ? Android is dead

When you add apps to android tablets, you see why PC is dead. Browser can not add apps.

When android older version can not install many apps because lack of folders for nicroSD; Android is dead. Apps should be pre-installed when you need it, store in flash memory when you do not need it(one app used at a time).

The apps architecture in android has to be not limited by internal memory.
