New wifi system waiting to be taking over the 802.11/b ? Xfinity wifi?

In general, the main emphasis is using more carrier frequencies, 700 mhz, 2.4 ghz, 5 ghz and 60 ghz.

Of these the only one being used today is 2.4 ghz. Others are not being used for one reason or another.

Free hotspots are mostly cableTV set-top box connected. So, if cableTV does not change 802.11/b compatibility, the other systems(802.11/a) will fall by the way side. Most are not looking at gps satellite as a possible system for wifi hotspot.

The way to setup video streaming in WiFi/b is the transmission speed of 1000kBps rate. In a home data center set-top box, multiusers can use frame of packets. Video streaming can be Mpeg2 or Mpeg4.

So, we are banking on the continuation of 802.11/b standards in cable TV system of wifi video streaming. Mpeg4/h.264 has the additional advantage of reduce pixels by zooming ratio(mjpeg).

Re: New wifi system waiting to be taking over the 802.11/b ? Xfinity wifi?

Since the last post, the technology had improved.

CableTV is using 802.11ac. /g is minimum for 20 mbps speed.

802.11/b is no longer supported unless no encryption(clearwire/netzero 4/g hotspot). You have to use wpa2-psk(aes) with password for passphrase using cable modem.

Clearwire is using 4/g mobile network to transmit over internet. You have to buy a set-top box($99 plus monthly charge of $40+ or free netzero) or a wifi device($40+) for your laptop to connect wifi to 4/g. No wifi encryption can be used with 4/g.

Sprint bought clearwire some time ago instead of dish taking over the wifi business.

Netzero free wifi is done by clearwire equipment you have to buy.

Clearwire or sprint now has Xfinity wifi as a competitor(unencrypted wifi).

Xfinity wifi network is piggybacked on ARRS routers on any cableTV network. First deal maybe DirecTV on the wifi system.

If you have ARRS wifi router, you may have been updated with extra channels. One of which is xfinity wifi network.

If you are connected you can have comcast webpage(bigdata) displayed to buy their services.

Xfinity wifi network is designed to do roaming on wifi network from router to router(edge) locked on unsecured wifi channels until out of range.

Its a technology for wifi phones such as MotoG or Samsung androids with wifi.

Xfinity wifi network now has a list of hotspots near your zip code and their addresses being customers of comcast, it shows new business growth.

This will enable most computers to get TV downloads.

New computer designs need wifi input to cpu. Multi arm cpus can be on one chip. Each cpu runs on one ip address.

Internet connection operates each webpage by browser.

Simple for data center servers. Or tablets.

Xfinity WiFi network by ARRS is for WiFi roaming. Its an extra insecure channel from cable plant.

Now, you can try as an complimentary session or buy some coupons to use it. As hotspot.

The roaming is for WiFi phone used in car traveling.

Re: New wifi system waiting to be taking over the 802.11/b ? Xfinity wifi?

Xfinity wifi network now available for $29.99/month for 12 months.

Testing it, found signal weak. Slow wifi webpage delivery.

More testing is needed for homes sign up for it first time.

Some day home control on wifi or bluetooth.  But  $66/month is the cost.

Xfinity wifi network was poor in signal strength, but this is changing.

The problem may annoy you because of  interference with your paid wifi connection without your knowledge.
