finally, you might have to fix a broken lcd for your laptop m

LCD screen is rather fragile. and sometimes even broken can still turn on and see some video data.

Laptop parts are difficult to disassemble. If you had no experience.

With Dell and Compag laptops going back to year 2000, you have to learn how to disassemble the power strip.  Dell had it snapped in, you pry it open from the left side above the keyboard. Compaq M700, you unscrew the top two screws holding the steel posts for the LCD panel plastic tabs. Then you can lift the power strip off. Then you unscrew the rest of the four screws holding the lCD panel to the back of the laptop.

After that is removed. You can see the wires connected to the mother board, and disassemble the wiring to exchange the LCD and top panel of the laptop. Its relatively smooth operation, once you know what procedure to follow.

Since this is the first replacement on M700 laptop, some plastic parts got broken. then the ccfl connector had contact resistance which was recontacted(pressing on the lid near the ccfl) to get full brightness. The lid movement has yet to be adjusted for smoothness and holding firmness.

Have fun, this is probable the only major repair, other than replacing the motherboard..

I am also working on a c610 that needed major swap of many parts including lcd, etc., to use the good motherboard.
