Battery saving by hibernation ? New technology autoupdated ?

without explanation, your operating systems have been autoupdated to hibernation power down. Then when you power up, your computer will boot and resume your previous operations.

Its no surprise and everybody can resume. Battery is saved on laptops, tablets, smartphones, iPods, etc.

This means your computer will save some data on hdd to resume operation. Some may save it to the swap file or virtual memory, which will take longer to boot and resume. But otherwise, resume is fast or instant on if memory is kept in flash memory.

Linux now use hibernation in kernels if you activate the hibernation process.

Windows are slower to get user password before resume.

Power down hibernation is not sleep on low voltage memory keeping, in drams. Then wake(resume on normal voltage) when data has input. This sleep then wake is instant on, without delay of hdd data moved to drams. But battery is drawn down.

Power down shuts down battery or ac power totally.

Re: Battery saving by hibernation ? New technology autoupdated ?

Now that we can see power down hibernation can save battery usage.

We now also know how ARM cpu saves battery by using less transistors.

The operating system does not need runtime codes that do not transfer data. Only the display is maintaining data for you to finish reading. LED lighting(10 ma) can save battery.

Battery life of 8 hours in normal usage is quite good. Battery however may only last 300 times of recharging. Batteries when not being used needs to be stored in ziplock bag to prevent humidity from absorbed into the battery.

Some complained that power down hibernation then wake to submit password as a security is too much bother.

But then if you worked away from the laptop; you will need password protection if theft happened.

New battery charging system was never as good as the one in DEll cpx A03 bios which revived 2 bad batteries already.

Took a few days of charging then discharging first four times then less and less discharging until only charging which fixed the battery.

Battery power programmed as portable laptop last longer than max battery. It discharges differently.
